SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL MAPPING OF THE CITY OF SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO
TOWARDS THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN ALTERNATIVE URBAN SCENARIO
Abstract
Social cartography has emerged as a valuable tool for building participatory processes, capturing lived experiences in a given territory and offering the potential for critical reflection on a given habitat. The objective of this work is to highlight the main results of a collective mapping project, linked to the relevant socio-environmental issues and situations identified in the city of Santiago del Estero. Data generation was based on collective mapping, and the methodology used was qualitative and participatory. The most significant results relate to urban growth trends, mobility and accessibility, waste management issues, and social recreation and leisure practices, among others. The conclusion is that the collective mapping tool is appropriate for reflecting on the city, and georeferencing the information in future projects is being considered.
