The Catholic University and Today’s World –between the Church and the State

Abstract
The aim of this essay is to define the identity and mission of the Catholic university in civil society in today´s world. The Catholic university is an institution that belongs both to the civil society –as a center of production and dissemination of knowledge– and the Church. The main challenge for it is to successfully fulfill its function as a university and to be fully Catholic at the same time.
