Abstract

This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the provisions of the Argentinian Civil and Commercial Code that establish a new regime on the matter of the first and last names of adopted children. The text clarifies the meaning of the legal prescrip- tions and highlights the differences with former regulations which reveal the shift in approach in this matter and better alignment of the norm to the constitutional frame. This paper includes several quotes from judicial rulings issued after August 2015, and from rulings that served as a basis for the drafting of the new code.
